The major challenges faced by OEMs when developing a GDI engine include particulates, hydrocarbons, and wall film. To capture and model liquid film formation is pivotal to predicting and simulating high-fidelity GDI CFD simulations. Accurate models improve the predictive power to capture combustion stability, efficiency and emission formation, which are all key to meeting emissions standards.

During the development of the Ingenium Engine family, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) extensively used CAE with STAR-CD as the preferred combustion simulation tool. As JLR develop its next-generation engines, they collaborated with Siemens DISW to deploy the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-cylinder Solution to deliver high fidelity modeling of GDI engines, addressing these major challenges.

Join us for this webinar on focused on combustion system development where will show:

  • the importance of accurate and easy set up a combustion simulation – streamlined workflow
  • integrated powertrain solutions allowing more advanced simulations in a single user environment
  • a comparison of results between STAR-CD and Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-cylinder Solution

Guest speaker: Dr. Giuseppe Virelli, CAE Lead of Reacting Flows and Turbine - Jaguar Land Rover

Siemens Speakers: Dr. Warren Seeley, Director of Powertrain and Patrick Niven, Industry Solutions Product Manager
