News CD-adapco is proud to launch the “Faces of the Future”, Student Paper Contest. We are looking to reward the best and brightest in the academic community who are harnessing the power of CD-adapco’s software. Some of the most groundbreaking developments we’ve made in our code’s capabilities have come from innovative ideas cultivated at North America’s universities. This is a unique opportunity for you to showcase the advancements you’ve made with our software to not only the CFD community, but to the engineering industry as a whole!

Here’s how the contest will work. Over the coming months, our staff will examine all submissions and determine which papers are most original and technically sound. Based on that determination, 6 student authors will be invited to present their papers at our annual STAR Conference, which is to take place in the spring of 2006.

Three of the presenters will be the students who wrote the top graduate level (PhD and Masters) theses, and the other group will be made up of the three authors that submitted the best undergraduate papers.

All six authors will be invited to present their papers in the “Academic Track” of our STAR Conference. At the end of the conference, CD-adapco will announce the winners of first, second and third prizes for each level – Graduate and Undergraduate. The prize money will be allocated as follows:

Prizes

Graduate: First $2,000.00 Second $1,000.00 Third $600.00
Undergraduate: First $1,200.00 Second $600.00 Third $400.00

In addition to prize money and the chance to showcase your work at our conference in front of influential members of the auto, aerospace, power generation and other industries, members of this final group will also be recognized in Dynamics, CD-adapco’s quarterly newsletter. This publication will be read by our clients across the field of engineering.

To participate, you must send an e-mail expressing your interest to dave.neidhart@us.cd-adapco.com before October 15, 2005. Please do not hesitate to send any questions to this e-mail address as well. The final deadline for paper submission will be March 31, 2006. CD-adapco is the leading global provider of full-spectrum engineering simulation solutions for fluid flow, heat transfer and stress, including CFD software, CAD-embedded CFD options, CAE consulting services and training.
