The major new advancement in Cobalt V4.0 is an Overset module featuring an automatic grid assembly process which determines hole-cutting, overlap regions, and interpolation weights to communicate flow field information between the separate grids.

Additional enhancements in Cobalt V4.0 include the following:

• Thermally perfect, calorically imperfect, gas equation of state
• Blade-element rotor boundary condition, available with and without blade tracking
• The exact Riemann solver was replaced with an in-house developed method to improve the capture of slowly moving and strong normal shocks, while retaining the advantages inherent to Riemann-based inviscid flux functions
