News CD-adapco has announced the release of the STAR-CAD Gateways V4.02, CAD-embedded Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), with access to the full capabilities of STAR-CD V3.26 and STAR-CCM+ V1.08.

This new version of the STAR-CAD Gateways for the Windows 32-bit platform includes: STAR-CAT5 Gateway for CATIA V5, STAR-Pro/E Gateway for Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, STAR-NX Gateway for NX and STAR-Works Gateway for SolidWorks.

The STAR-CAD Gateways are add-ons to the full-spectrum CFD products STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+. They have been specifically created to enable engineers and analysts to undertake calculations directly within their CAD environment. Because the CFD model is fully associated with the CAD geometry, any design changes made in response to simulation results or otherwise, are automatically reflected in the CFD model, and subsequently the solution.

The latest version is packed full of new features designed to enhance productivity and workflow. The time to solution is significantly decreased with the implementation of new faster mesh generation and increased solver speed. Critical engineering data is now automatically presented in a fully automatic HTML report that can be distributed alongside a new interactive 3D results viewer that gives managers and team members a unique insight into the results of your simulation.

Jean-Claude Ercolanelli, CD-adapco’s Product Manager for the STAR-CAD Gateways, is enthusiastic about the new version: “Engineers and analysts need tools that enable them to carry out easily parametric ‘what-if’ studies with enhanced automation and true associativity between CAD geometry and advanced CFD models. Highly complex physics can be modeled directly within their CAD environment including, chemical reaction and combustion, multiphase and multiphysics”, he said. “The use of simulation templates customized by CFD analysts can also enable casual users to access advanced CFD features.”

As ever, the CD-adapco name can be relied upon to ensure you extended CFD simulation capability as your product complexity increases. This is the full-spectrum CFD solution uniquely provided by CD-adapco. Dennis Nagy, CD-adapco’s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, is excited about the future of full-spectrum CFD: ”The STAR-CAD Gateways have already successfully met the needs of design engineers, professional engineers and CFD experts and their use continues to expand across all industries”.
