GAMBIT's automated tetrahedral, hexahedral and hybrid meshing functions have been enhanced in V2.1 with a new HexCore capability. HexCore combines the flexibility and automation of tetrahedral meshing with the efficiency of Cartesian meshing, resulting in higher quality meshes and reduced cell count.
GAMBIT's STEP, Parasolid, IGES and new, native CATIA V4 import technologies are equipped with tolerant modeling and healing capabilities. These greatly improve imported geometry quality and result in automatically connected models. This, in turn, enables the use of GAMBIT's full suite of construction and Boolean Tools on imported models.
Dr. Matthew Laight, Head of CFD Applications at the Renault F1 Motor Racing Team comments on the new features in GAMBIT 2.1; "We have been using the CATIA to GAMBIT interface for only two months and already it has become an integral part of our design process. It is by far the easiest and cleanest way for us to transfer the CAD geometry directly into GAMBIT, and has proved more successful as an interface than any we have previously used."
Erling Eklund, Fluent’s GAMBIT Product Market Manager adds, “The combination of CAD interoperability, new geometry cleanup, decomposition and meshing tools in GAMBIT 2.1 results in one of the easiest, fastest and most straightforward preprocessing paths from CAD to quality CFD meshes.”
