The collaborative project is supported by the European Commission and aims to design and construct a prototype industrial production equipment to produce nano powders with greater control over particle size. As the lead researcher on the project Kingston will carry out computer simulation and experimental tests to investigate the formation of nano particles in the process, which will be used for equipment design and process control for the project.

The Senior Engineering Analyst is responsible for flow and heat transfer modeling of fuel system components and sub systems including direct injection fuel injectors, high pressure fuel pumps, fuel distribution rails, chemical reactors, engine intake and exhaust systems, and heat exchangers. Provides analysis used to guide design decisions and facilitate product development on an accelerated schedule. Designs and executes bench-top and engine-based experiments for model validation.

Responsibilities include application of commercial codes, development of code modifications/additions, the design of validation experiments, analysis of data from multiple development programs including single and multi-cylinder engines. Interpretation of engine test data and information from rig based experiments. Provide input to design and development of injectors, piston geometries, valve strategies, and turbo charging requirements. Work interactively with design engineers and combustion experimentalists. In-cylinder CFD and one-dimensional modeling to direct the development work towards the performance parameters is central to the role.
