The 3-day course and 1-day workshop is intended to guide participants through the whole CFD cycle (pre-processing, calculation, post-processing) of hand-on problems, providing them technical details at each stage.

NUMECA's CFD suite, FINE™/Open, suitable for both internal and external flow applications, will be used during the course. FINE™/Open, packaged now with the OpenLabs module with user-defined functionalities will be used for physical modeling customization.

Participants will benefit from:

  • Learning about best practice in specific computational problems
  • Sharing experience by specialists in NUMECA’s software
  • Physical modeling customization of cases
  • Comprehensive discussions on the results obtained

Professor Ch. Hirsch will give an opening speech and introduction to CFD. All attendees are invited to attend this on the morning of Monday 17th

Training Program
From 17th-20th 2011, NUMECA International will organize a special classroom course and workshop in collaboration with the Von Karman Institute. The schedule will be as follows:

Course

Monday, 17th October 2011
Introduction to mesh generation, including practice sessions, using the HEXPRESS™ Unstructured -Full Hex- non conformal body fitted grid generator for arbitrary geometries.

Introduction to FINE™/Open flow solver set-up and post processing. FINE™/Open is a Flow Integrated Environment dedicated to the simulation of complex internal and external applications.

Tuesday, 18th October 2011
Flow solver set-up and post-processing using FINE™/Open. Theoretical aspects (turbulence, multi-grid strategy, preconditioning).

Wednesday 19th October 2011
Customization of physical models using the new module OpenLabs, which allows physical modeling customization i.e add and/or modify physical models in a highly user friendly way.

Workshop

Thursday 20th of October 2011
Participants are invited to bring their own cases for discussion and practice. For the workshop, you can bring your geometry data in Parasolid, STL or CATIA V5 format. Please send your case at registration, if possible, to allow us to cross-check the input data and make sure you gain maximum benefit from the workshop.

Registration
The maximum number of participants is limited. Participants will receive an electronic copy of the lecture notes, as well as a certificate of attendance. A trial license (one month) of NUMECA software will also be provided to participants. To register, or for more details, please send an email to sales@numeca.be
