Thermosetting Webinar - Simulating Crosslinked Polymers

Announcements Flow Science will host Simulating Crosslinked Polymers: An Introduction to FLOW-3D ThermoSET on Thursday, June 16 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT.

Crosslinked polymers can be used in the encapsulation of sub-millimeter electronics, bonding of generator coils, and provide a protective environment to chip components.

Thermosetting resins exhibit behaviors such as irreversible molecular bonding, viscosity dependent on the reaction rate, degree of cure, and heat generated from the chemical reaction.

These resins differ from thermoplastics in a single key area, the end product is developed by a chemical reaction, thus irreversible, and not simply by reheat methods. This key difference adds a higher degree of difficultly to correctly modeling the resin behavior during injection.

FLOW-3D ThermoSET has three different viscosity models to fit the particular resin of interest, fitting the curves provided from rheology testing to one of the applicable models.
