Large Eddy Simulation of Short Course Scheduled

News A new Short Course on "Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of Transitional and Turbulent Flows: Numerical, Physical & Implementation Issues" will be held at Cranfield University on 6-8 November 2006.

The 3-day intensive Short Course is intended to cover in detail a number of LES issues including: numerical methods; subgrid scale models; validation; analysis of results; relation of numerical dissipation and subgrid scale models; implicit and hybrid LES methods; effects of initial and boundary conditions; and implementation in structured and unstructured grids.

Moreover, the short course will cover application of modern LES techniques in aerodynamics, turbulent mixing, combustion, as well as it will present the potential of LES in emerging application areas.

The course is addressed to a broad audience including research scientists and engineers, postgraduate students and industrial practitioners concerned with the development and/or application of LES in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric and Oceanographic Applications as well as other Environmental disciplines.

The course will be delivered by Prof Dimitris Drikakis (Cranfield University) and Dr Fernando Grinstein (Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA).
