News Fluent Inc. will hold a training course entitled Shape Optimization of CFD Applications on Tuesday, September 27 at the Fluent Training Center in Ann Arbor, MI, USA.

This course is designed to teach FLUENT users how to conduct shape optimization of CFD applications.

Users will execute the following in a 'step-by-step' fashion:
  • Import an existing FLUENT model into MeshWorks/MORPHER and parameterize it for a number of shape parameters. After the parameterization, the user will save the model as a 'parametric' FLUENT model.
  • Set up an optimization plan in iSIGHT to execute the following tasks automatically:
    • Supply new parameter values to the optimization loop
    • Execute MeshWorks/MORPHER in batch mode to automatically generate a new running model from the 'parametric' FLUENT model
    • Automatically extract output parameter values such as pressure drop, velocities etc.
    • Set up constraints for the output parameters
    • Set up ranges for input parameters
    • Set up objective to optimize for (such as maximizing flow rates etc.)
  • Set up a DOE plan in iSIGHT using the input shape parameter ranges.
  • Automatically execute the DOE plan for creating new designs, executing them and extracting the results.
  • Select the best DOE design.
  • Using the results, create a 'Response Surface Model' (RSM).
  • Optimize using the RSM.

Audience

This course is recommended for anyone who wants to perform shape optimization of CFD problems. A working knowledge of FLUENT, MeshWorks/MORPHER, and iSIGHT is required.

Cost

$800. Included with your fee is breakfast, lunch, diploma, and training manual.
