News The upcoming European Automotive CFD Conference (EACC) in Frankfurt, Germany, will have the first European preview of the fully embedded “FLUENT for CATIA V5” product from Fluent Inc. and Dassault Systèmes. The product’s uniquely innovative design allows users the possibility of integrated analysis for the first time within the automotive Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environment.

Commenting on his Keynote EACC presentation and product demonstration, Severin Lafranchi, Dassault Systemes’ R&D Director for CATIA Simulation, said, "We want to make it easier for our customers to predict product performance. Fluent has created a fully PLM-integrated CFD solution that reveals the effects of fluid dynamics during product design. The result will be better performing, more cost effective products in less time."

This major step forward for the CFD Industry was acknowledged by Paul Bemis, Vice President of Marketing at Fluent Inc who said, “In contrast to other approaches, the FLUENT for CATIA solution operates completely within the native CATIA data structures. The key benefit of this unique implementation is full associativity with all upstream operations allowing functionality such as analysis driven design optimization to be utilized in the first release. This allows users the ability and flexibility to carry out PLM all within one workflow."

The EACC itself is Europe’s biggest CFD event dedicated to automotive applications, and is happening on the 29th and 30th June 2005. Nearly 250 delegates from across the world have already registered for this conference and those wishing to attend can still sign up; visit www.eacc.fluent.com. This biannual event also affords visitors a snapshot of leading edge applied CFD within the automotive industry today with over thirty impressive and high profile presentations illustrating trends and best practices from leading companies such as PSA Peugeot Citroën, Delphi, Eberspächer, Honda, Opel, Robert Bosch, Valeo, Visteon and Volvo to name a few.

Formula 1 racing will also have a strong presence at the event, including Scuderia Ferrari and Sauber-Petronas who will be presenting, along with Advantage CFD / BAR Honda who will be presenting some new ways of design optimization. The latest meshing developments for the Automotive Industry will be outlined in a “Wrapping and Meshing Technologies” Session, as well as Focus Sessions on hot topics like “Acoustics” and “Dynamic Meshing”.
