Summer School on Numerical Modelling and OpenFOAM 2008

Announcements The faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FSB), University of Zagreb, Croatia announce the Summer School for PhD students and young researchers in Zagreb to be held 8-19 September 2008.

The idea of a Summer School is to gather 5-10 students and OpenFOAM users each with their own project at the University of Zagreb, where they would receive help on numerical modelling, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and in particular OpenFOAM.

Southampton Implements Harpoon Teaching Programme

News Sharc is proud to announce that Southampton School of Engineering Sciences is the first to take advantage of the new teaching license option for Harpoon.

The new competitive academic licensing options, which includes 20 floating licenses of Harpoon, will support University Lecturers in explaining CFD. Harpoon is so easy to use that students can jump straight into the physics of the problem without having to spend weeks learning a package. This combined with extreme speed means that researchers and lecturers can mesh complex geometries in real time.

News Flomerics has announced that it has received an unprecedented response to its offer of providing its popular Engineering Fluid Dynamics (EFD) simulation software for teaching and research purposes.

Due to the large response to the initial announcement, Flomerics has announced that it will provide all 3 versions of EFD at $380 for a 3-year license to universities and technology colleges around the world.

Introduction to Commercial CFD Course

Announcements Tridiagonal Solutions along with College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) is pleased to announce the launch of the Introduction to Commercial CFD training course.

The course will be held at the College of Engineering, Pune for 6 weeks (2 hours per day, 6 days per week) starting August 28, 2006. The course will be conducted by faculty with Ph. D. and Masters degrees from IIT with more than 10 years experience in industrial CFD and consulting.

New MSc Programme of Study in CFD

News Cranfield University has launched an MSc course in CFD. The course begins in October 2006. The course aims to offer a programme of study to enhance the skills of the graduate student and professional engineer, providing a detailed introduction to the fundamentals of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) together with an insight into the applications of CFD across the breadth of the subject.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has grown from a mathematical curiosity to become an essential tool in almost every branch of fluid dynamics, from aerospace propulsion to weather prediction. In design and development, CFD programs are now considered to be standard numerical tools, widely utilised within industry.
