Barracuda is used by major oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, and power equipment manufacturers for simulating, understanding, and optimizing the operation of fluidized systems. Common applications are FCC (fluidized catalytic cracking) reactors and regenerators, fluidized bed reactors (FBRs) for chemical manufacturing, CFB (circulating fluidized bed) boilers in coal-fired power plants, and both coal and biomass gasifiers and chemical looping combustion (CLC).

China is a very promising market for Barracuda, which has applications in several key Chinese industries. With some of the world’s largest coal reserves but very limited oil resources, China has is a leader in the development of clean-coal technologies. Barracuda is a proven CFD solution for clean coal technology development.

China has a vibrant chemical industry with technology demands for FBRs, an application where Barracuda has demonstrated significant advantages over traditional CFD tools. Barracuda is already used by global chemical companies for the simulation and design of titanium chlorinators, acrylonitrile reactors, and FBRs used in the production of semiconductor-grade and solar-grade polysilicon.

“We are very pleased to have Hi-Key representing us in China, one of the world’s most important and growing markets,” said Scott Thibault, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at CPFD Software. “They provide deep technical experience for sales, support, and client training while offering excellent sales coverage and marketing exposure.” Harry Xuan, President of Hi-Key, added “We see real demand in China for specialized CAE products that provide key capabilities not offered through general-purpose packages. We already see a great strong interest among our clients and expect Barracuda to be very successful in China.”
