NTI to Commercialize Jameson's CFD Software

News Professor Wagdi Habashi, President and Chief Scientific Officer of Newmerical Technologies International, is pleased to announce that NTI has reached an agreement with Intelligent Aerodynamics Inc. (IAI) of Stanford, California, for the exclusive commercialization, co-development and customer support of a revolutionary software system for the aerodynamic design of new aircraft and aerospace systems, J-FLO.

J-FLO is written by famed Stanford Professor Antony Jameson, a leading light of CFD algorithmic development and a pioneer of Optimal Control Aerodynamics. NTI is thus truly proud to be the first in bringing this new technology to the market, and to associate itself with Professor Jameson and IAI for its further development.

Aerodynamic shape selection in industry remains a trial-and-error process consisting of testing, via computer, a large number of aircraft shapes based on the experience of the designers. This will now be superseded by procedures, such as J-FLO, that can automatically and rapidly (hours versus months) design aerodynamic components and entire aircraft with “ideal/optimal” aerodynamic (highest lift, minimum drag), range (longest, less fuel consumption), structural (lighter) and acoustic (quieter) characteristics.

The introduction of J-FLO is in synch with the current revival in the aerospace market, both civilian and military. Companies that base their aircraft/rotorcraft/UAV/space vehicle designs on J-FLO will distinguish themselves by the speed of bringing their product to market, by its superior performance and economy, and by the drastic decrease in the size of the design team required.

J-FLO applications will be rapidly broadened to more aerospace, automotive and general fluid flow design areas.

Newmerical Technologies International (NTI) specializes in developing state-of-the-art novel numerical solutions to solve complex aerospace problems, such as the FENSAP-ICE in-flight icing simulation system which has become the industry standard worldwide. With J-FLO, NTI’s software and engineering services offerings now encompass design, analysis, and certification.
