F1 Teams Allowed Unlimited CFD for 2021 Design

News Changes to the F1 Sporting Regulations were recently announced by FIA. Notably, unrestricted CFD simulations are allowed for development of cars for the 2021 season.

Currently, wind tunnel and CFD testing is restricted to improve team parity.

However, the F1 world would like to see closer racing and more overtaking. Something the recent aero regulation changes are designed to provide.

Subsequent to the aero redesign, FIA have now removed the limit on CFD simulation. It remains to be seen how the teams will harness the new capability.
