Why FORTRAN for CFD?

Help Desk Parashuram Kapase writes "Hi everybody,

I am writing codes for benchmark problems in CFD. My basic question is why use the FORTRAN language to write codes in CFD? Is there any specific advantage of FORTRAN for CFD programming? Why can't we use C, C++ for CFD codes?"
