News The 1st CFX South America Users Conference, sponsored by ESSS, was held in Florianópolis, a beautiful island in southern Brazil on October 20th-22nd. The conference was a great success in attracting many of those involved in CFD in Brazil and the rest of South America.

Participants and attendees had the opportunity to get learn about a broad range of fluid flow modeling techniques and to become aware of on-going research projects carried out by top South America companies and universities. About 80 visitors attended the event during the 3 days. Dr. Brad Hutchinson from ANSYS CFX was an invited speaker and made 2 presentations - the ANSYS CFX RoadMap and a CFX Product Development Update.

Twenty-five technical presentations from customers were given and two discussion sessions (multiphase and turbomachinery) were held providing the attendees with the opportunity to exchange information about best practices. In addition, participants could attend Short-Courses on Element-based Finite Volume Method and Turbulence Modeling.

Based on feedback from attendees, this is expected to be an annual event.
