Beginning in the second quarter of 2002, Fluent, Inc. will be offering a two-day course as an introduction to fluid mechanics, heat transfer and computational fluid dynamics at two of their US offices. The course is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the underlying physics and numerical techniques of CFD analysis. Attendees are assumed to have a technical background, but not necessarily an engineering degree. The topics are covered in a general fashion with no bias towards any CFD software package.
The first day is a review of fluid mechanics (governing equations, non-dimensionalization, boundary layer flow, internal/external flows, and heat transfer). The second day will focus on CFD techniques including descretization, boundary conditions, meshing considerations, solvers, and post-processing.
