Application: Combustion Research Using CFD

Application This NCSA article describes work being done at the State University of New York at Buffalo on combustion research. Aerospace engineer Cyrus Madnia is using Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) to accurately predict the vortex structures within flames.

The article details the various turbulent structures used to stabilize flames and how they affect burning efficiency. The work is being done on a 16 cpu SGI Origin2000.
