- Developed large-scale CFD code with DNS and LES capabilities using state-of-art high-order numerical schemes in FORTRAN, parallelised using MPI & OpenMP on HPC platform. - Codes were developed from scratch using finite difference and explicit time integration schemes with spectral-like resolutions. - A specialty code for solving flows with shock-waves was developed using Monotonicity preserving (MP) schemes and non-oscillatory (WENO) schemes. The codes were validated with a Channel flow, spatially developing supersonic boundary layer and Shock-wave interaction with homogenous turbulence. - Critically examined wall-bounded Turbulence using DNS and LES of Homogenous Supersonic Channel flow, and investigated the feasibility of wall-resolved large-eddy simulations over a range of Mach numbers from 1.5 to 3. - Devised innovative models for Subgrid-Scale Internal Energy Closures in Channel flow LES and formulated a methodology to model the Subgrid-Scale viscous dissipation. - The new models demonstrated improved mean Temperature predictions and 2nd order statistics of Temperature - The models are self-adapting, making them applicable to a wide range of flow fields including wall-bounded flows, free-shear flows & homogenous flows, and a number of test cases on Channel flows, Mixing layers and Isotropic turbulence yielded consistent results without a need for synthetic profiling or damping functions. - Actively contributed to a project on analytical solutions to elastic pipe flow with arbitrary unsteadiness. Developed a code using MATLAB to solve for unsteady respiratory flow through equine bronchial branching (Lung of a Horse), extending the analytical solution to branched flows. - Acquired breadth knowledge in Multicomponent-Multiphase flows, Molecular dynamics simulations and Statistical Thermodynamics through a number of advanced special topics courses. Modified a skeleton Molecular dynamics code to compute multi-component diffusion and viscosity coefficients.
