Used a Front-Tracking finite difference (in FORTRAN) code to study phenomena related to drop/bubble dynamics in viscoelastic/non-Newtonian flows. Implemented various fluid models and performed testing and validation to ensure robustness of the code. Implemented a new algorithm to solve coupled partial differential equations describing highly nonlinear behavior of non-Newtonian (FENE-CR) fluids. Successfully dealt with issues in numerical simulation of PDE’s like numerical stability and convergence. Analyzed data generated from simulations using FORTRAN, C, MATLAB and Tecplot. Developed numerous subroutines for evaluation of forces, stresses, torques and other quantities for a better understanding of the behavior of the drops deforming, relaxing and migrating in a complex fluid. Currently developing software to numerically study the interaction of deformable drops with solid surface, using Immersed boundary methods.
