Objective
I am looking for an exciting start of my professional career. I just graduated as a PhD in Applied Physics, with a large background in Computational Physics, and am ideally looking for a job involving CFD development. I also want to broaden my horizons, so offers from countries other than Belgium are more than welcome - and in fact preferred. My availability is roughly within a few months after first contact.
Salary Requirements
My current monthly salary (after taxes) is 2200 euro. However, my main interest is the content of the job and as such remuneration details are certainly open for negotation.
Employment History
Founder of Scarlett 2010-Present
Ghent University
Ghent, Belgium
As part of a team of three, I am involved in commercialising our PhD work, through a spin-off company called Scarlett. This involves further research as well as a large amount of software coding. The goal is the development of a Computational Electromagnetics solver that surpasses the performance of currently available products.
PhD Researcher (achieved the title of Doctor of Engineering in Applied Physics) 2006 - November 2010
Ghent University
Ghent, Belgium
My research involved efficient algorithms for Computational Electromagnetics, including the parallellisation (with MPI) for high performance computing. The full manuscript can be supplied in PDF format upon request.
Education
- 2001-2003: Bachelor in Science & Engineering, at Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium).
- 2003-2006: Master in Science & Engineering: Applied Physics, at Ghent University (Belgium). Graduated summa cum laude.

My education focused on theoretical physics and mathematics during the first years. During my Masters, I sought out courses that involved the computational aspects of fluid dynamics (focusing in particular on electromagnetism and aerodynamics). My Master's thesis was also in this field (a PDF version can be supplied upon request).
Skills
Description Proficiency Experience
Linux programming Advanced >5 Years
C++ programming Expert >5 Years
Parallelization Advanced 3-5 Years
Solver development Expert >5 Years
Turbulence model development Intermediate 2-3 Years
Additional Skill Info
I selected those at which I was strongest or which seem most relevent. I am further skilled in FEA analysis, CFD Analysis, grid generation, FORTRAN, Aerospace design, UNIX, Electronics design and Physical Model development and definition. I speak, read and write Dutch (native), English (fluent), French (fluent) and German (conversational).
