News The OpenFOAM Foundation are pleased to announce the release of version 2.2.2 of the OpenFOAM open source CFD toolbox. Version 2.2.2 further consolidates the major version 2.2.0 release through some bug fixes and code improvements.

OpenFOAM v2.2.2 is distributed under the GNU General Public Licence by the OpenFOAM Foundation

Application: A CFD Investigation of LBE Rod Bundle Flow

Lead-Bismuth Eutectic or LBE is a eutectic alloy consisting of 45 percent lead and 55 percent bismuth. It is foreseen as a possible coolant for Generation IV nuclear reactor systems. The most interesting properties of LBE in comparison with lead and water are presented in Table 1. A principal advantage of LBE over lead is the low melting point of 125 °C, rather than lead's 327 °C. If the heat source in a nuclear system is shut down, then it is much easier to avoid freezing of the coolant.

Business: Meteodyn to Acquire MIGAL-S CFD Software

News Meteodyn and Michel Ferry R&D consulting today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Meteodyn will acquire MIGAL-S solver source code and exclusivity usage. The transaction was unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies.
