Intelligent Light Receives DoE Grant

News The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded Intelligent Light a $1 Million Phase II grant to commercialize the VisIt open source software.

Intelligent Light has begun integrating FieldView™ its flagship CFD post-processing software with VisIt, the open source interactive parallel visualization and graphical analysis tool from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Application: Accurate Lung Wodel Will Allow Asthmatics to Breathe Easy

Application Curtin University researchers have taken large strides towards revolutionising drug delivery for asthmatics and people with lung diseases, potentially saving thousands of lives and millions of dollars.

Associate Professor Ben Mullins from the School of Public Health and lead researcher on the project, said respiratory illnesses were the most common causes of death in people over 65 years.

Education: 12 Steps to Navier-Stokes

News The first practical self-learning module of Prof. Lorena Barba's Computational Fluid Dynamics class, as taught between 2010 and 2013 at Boston University is now available.

The module is called 12 steps to Navier-Stokes equations (yes, it's a tongue-in-cheek allusion of the recovery programs for behavioral problems). It was inspired by the ideas of Dr. Rio Yokota, who was a post-doc in Barba's lab, and has been refined by Prof. Barba and her students over several semesters teaching the course.

New Software: ADT Ships TURBOdesign Suite 5.2.1

News Advanced Design Technology (ADT), a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods and the TURBOdesign Suite announces that TURBOdesign Suite version 5.2.1 is now shipping.

This version of the first commercially available 3D inverse design software system for turbomachinery products—an evolution in blade design—introduces a new elliptically smoothed mesh generation routine in TURBOdesign CFD for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis as well as a new ability to predict stage performance, including volute performance, that previously was only available for pumps.
