Announcements Pointwise, Inc. will present a free webinar Structured Meshing for Low-Speed Ship Maneuvering Simulations at 11 a.m. CDT on 22 Aug.

The accuracy and reduced cell count provided by structured meshes are nearly a prerequisite for ship resistance prediction for naval vessels because of free-surface effects and very high Reynolds numbers.

New Software: Cubit 13.2 Mesh Generation Software Released

News csimsoft announced today the release of Cubit 13.2, the latest version of the Cubit pre-processor for generating high-quality tetrahedral and hexahedral meshes for the CFD and FEA communities.

The latest version of Cubit includes improved meshing and geometry features, a new 64-bit tet mesher, and improved third-party format support.

This four-week online training course will include one 2.5 hour session per week and offers attendees the fundamental knowledge for using CFD in real life engineering applications.

Scaling Legacy Codes to Tens of Thousands of Processing Elements

News With more processors being readily available on large computing systems today, there have been many discussions involving the potential scalability of legacy codes/numerics concerning their ability to fully utilize large core count machines.

The prevailing thought and conclusion of those involved in the discussions were that legacy codes could not scale well on thousands of processors, let alone tens of thousands of processors.
