Announcements Pointwise, Intelligent Light and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga SimCenter will present a free webinar at 11 a.m. CST on 7 Dec. that illustrates the various steps of the complete computational fluid dynamics (CFD) process typically followed in aerodynamic analyses of realistic geometries.

The webinar, entitled High-Fidelity, High-Productivity CFD Simulations of Airflow Over a Golf Club Head, will employ a simulation of airflow over a golf club head to demonstrate the complete CFD process from geometry creation through solution post-processing.

Business: PADT Wins Entrepreneurial Leadership Award

News Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business Spirit of Enterprise Center has awarded Phoenix Analysis & Design Technologies, Inc. (PADT, Inc.) the 2011 Hahnco Companies Entrepreneurial Leadership Award.

PADT, Inc. was one of five companies that received an award during the ceremony held at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 8th, 2011.

New Software: Simulation Software Determines Soot Particle Sizes

News Automakers and energy producers are getting a jump on the ability to reduce soot particle emissions, thanks to research by the Model Fuels Consortium (MFC).

The Reaction Design-led consortium completed years of research and experimental validation, which has led to the development of software that its members can use to accurately simulate the formation of soot particulates.

Wind Tunnel Tests Validate CFD Performance Predictions

News Bombardier Aerospace confirmed that final results of a three-phase wind tunnel test program provided further validation of the CSeries aircraft’s aerodynamic design.

They also support design predictions that the CSeries aircraft, optimized specifically for the growing 100- to 149-seat market, will deliver a step-change in fuel efficiency.

Böttcher Named Pointwise Meshy Award Winner

News Dr. Michael Böttcher of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology was named winner of the Pointwise Meshy Award at the Pointwise User Group Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas on 10 November.

A design combining three meshes by Dr. Böttcher is featured on the T-shirt presented to meeting participants. Additionally, he was presented with a plaque and his name has been engraved on the Meshy Award trophy.
