Education: CFD Researcher to Head MIT Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics

News Jaime Peraire, the H. N. Slater Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, has been named the next head of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AeroAstro).

Peraire’s research interests include computational aerodynamics — he is also the director of the Aerospace Computational Design Lab — as well as simulation-based design and numerical analysis.

Over the two days, attendees will be introduced to OpenFOAM as a general-purpose CFD solver for standard fluid flow applications.

Crosslinked polymers can be used in the encapsulation of sub-millimeter electronics, bonding of generator coils, and provide a protective environment to chip components.

Pointwise Awarded Overset Meshing Research Contract

News Pointwise, Inc. has been awarded an SBIR Phase II contract by the U.S. Air Force Arnold Engineering Development Center to streamline overset mesh generation for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.

The two-year contract will feature support for unstructured overset meshes and innovative research into mesh adaption for optimization of overset interpolation.
