Open Source CFD International Conference 2010 a Success

News The Open Source CFD International Conference 2010 took place in Munich, Germany on the 4th & 5th November. 140 attendees made this the largest conference yet, demonstrating the growing interest and success of those who are using, programming and deploying open source CFD solutions.

The conference was very well received as a valuable, stimulating and enjoyable event, particularly for making contact with other industrial and academic attendees.

Delivering Record Performance with ANSYS FLUENT

News QLogic Corp. announced that it has achieved class-leading ANSYS FLUENT 12.1 benchmark performance on IBM iDataPlex servers running QLogic(R) 7300 Series InfiniBand(R) host adapters and Intel 5670 processors. The results show that QLogic TrueScale(TM) InfiniBand fabrics deliver the industry's highest published performance with ANSYS FLUENT applications.

New Software: Create High-Quality CFD Movies with Symscape's Caedium

News The latest release of Caedium (v2.4) by Symscape can now create high-quality movies, where each frame can be rendered by either POV-Ray or a Renderman-compliant renderer, such as Aqsis.

Further, multiple frames can be rendered in parallel, either on a stand alone multi-core computer or on a cluster running Windows HPC Server 2008.

Events: Turbulence Transition Modelling Course

Announcements In the past three decades, significant progress has been made in the development of turbulence models, due to the effort of many research groups. However, in many applications, the important effect of laminar-turbulent transition has only been included in a very primitive way such as by tripping boundary layers based on empirical criteria.

ERCOFTAC will host a Transition Modelling Course on 25th - 26th May 2011 at the GE Global Research Centre in Munich, Germany.
