News Simerics is pleased to be partnering with UNIKE, an established distributor of simulation products to the German market. Simerics offers the 3D CFD tool PumpLinx, which was developed for the simulation and testing of fluid pumps, motors, and other fluid devices. UNIKE is a welcome complement to Simerics’ presence in Europe and will reinforce the support for the rapidly growing PumpLinx user base in Germany.

ANSYS ANSYS will host a webinar on the use of ANSYS 12.0 meshing tools for automotive applications on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 9:00 A.M. EDT and again on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. EDT.

ANSYS Workbench 2.0 meshing tools allow greater automation, which are perfect for design optimization and upfront simulation. The existing tools such as ANSYS ICEM CFD and ANSYS TGrid have also been updated at release 12.0.

Application: Cornell Pump Company Experiences 100x Speed Up Generating Performance Curves

Application Blue Ridge Numerics, Inc. today announced that Cornell Pump Company experienced a 100x speed up of a full transient system-level simulation and performance curve generation using the new CFdesign Motion and high performance computing (HPC) Modules, released earlier this month.

Cornell design engineers were able to perform a series of transient simulations to develop a complete performance curve, enabling evaluation of a centrifugal pump design in only two hours, down from 200 hours, resulting in a significant reduction in product development time.

Business: ANSYS Reports First Quarter 2009 Results

ANSYS ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, has announced first quarter 2009 results.

"Overall, we had a challenging quarter, but we still delivered earnings at the upper end of our guidance, with strong gross and operating margins. As expected, we were highly impacted by the combination of the uncertain macroeconomic environment and stiff currency headwinds." stated Jim Cashman, ANSYS president and CEO.

Overall, earnings rose $12M over Q1 2008 while profit margin dropped slightly from 47.3% to 46.1%. ANSYS estimates 2009 earnings to be in the range $502M - $552M
