Print version Email story Tweet story
CD-adapco In the six years since its first release, STAR-CCM+ has evolved into more than just a CFD code, and is now an integrated platform for powerful multi-disciplinary simulation, including: combustion; multiphase flow; heat transfer through solids and fluids; dynamic fluid body interaction; and solid stress: all from within a single environment.

As with each previous release, STAR-CCM+ V4 includes new physical models, such as the introduction of erosion modeling, improved combustion models as well as the capability to simulate melting and solidification.

Application: Embedded CFD Helps Reduce Number of Thermal Prototypes
Posted Wed March 04, 2009 @05:58PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
Application Azonix used FloEFD software from the Mentor Graphics Corporation Mechanical Analysis Division (formerly Flomerics) to reduce the number of thermal prototypes required from up to 12 to 1 on its new Terra embedded computer.

"FloEFD computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software enables design engineers without a fluid analysis background to perform thermal simulation," said James Young, Design Engineer for Azonix. "The result is that we got the design right the first time, only had to make one prototype, and avoided expensive design changes that typically occur in the late stages of the development process."
