News CD-adapco, the leading provider of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) and CAE software and services, today announced the launch of their Vehicle Simulation Resource Center.

The center has been established to provide engineers with access to application briefs related to the simulation of: Aerodynamics and Vehicle Thermal Management; In Cylinder Modeling, Powertrain Analysis; Passenger Comfort; Aftertreatment; and Fuel Cells. Additional topics will be added in the coming months.

News ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced that it has been named number one in the software and services sector on Oliver Wyman’s Shareholder Performance IndexSM (SPI). This international ranking assesses the performance of firms in the communications, media and technology (CMT) industries. With an overall SPI score of 317 — three times the average — ANSYS placed 21st out of the 450 CMT companies on the list. In the technology sector, ANSYS ranked fifth, just behind well-known computer and consumer electronics manufacturers.

When the I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis collapsed during the evening rush hour on August 1, 2007 killing 13 people, millions were stunned by the tragic scene. Images of cars, semi-trucks, and even a school bus, teetering some 115 feet over the mighty Mississippi River left many wondering, “Could that happen here, where I live?” In the days that followed, motorists around the country gave more careful consideration to the bridges and overpasses that they travel every day, which before had never garnered a second thought. While the specific cause of the collapse remains undetermined, most experts agree that some mechanical failure is to blame.
