New Software: Flomerics Releases Version 8 of EFD Engineering Fluid Dynamics Analysis Software

News Flomerics has released the latest version of its popular Engineering Fluid Dynamics (EFD) analysis software suite. EFD Version 8 offers improved CAD data handling and support, new physical models and advanced visualization. The new features further increase user ability to solve complex real-world problems and share the results with interested parties down- or upstream.

Fluid Simulation Reduces Valve Prototype Development Time

News Aerospace valve manufacturer Shaw Aero Devices, Inc., Naples, Florida, saved at least $9000 and three months in prototyping costs by using Flomerics’ EFD.Lab computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to iterate to an optimized design.

The CFD results for each iteration provided insights into how the design could be improved. Rob Preble, Project Engineer for Shaw, created a design that provided the required pressure drop without the need to build a single hardware prototype.

Business: ANSYS Among 40 Fastest-Growing Software Companies

ANSYS ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, announced that it is the second-ranked company on Baseline magazine's list of 40 Fastest-Growing Software Companies. ANSYS was the only computer-aided engineering (CAE) software company that made the list.

According to the Baseline report, the median revenue growth among all 49 qualifying companies was 13 percent. In 2006, aided by the Fluent Inc. acquisition, ANSYS revenue jumped more than 66 percent.

Business: EnSight to Be Distributed in South East Asia and China by CAD-IT Consultants

News Computational Engineering International (CEI) announced today a partnership with Singapore-based firm CAD-IT Consultants (Asia), Pte Ltd. to distribute the American developer’s software throughout South East Asia and broaden distribution throughout China.

Best-known for its industry-leading EnSight software, CEI produces a full range of software applications for the scientific and engineering community covering all aspects of simulation, including meshing, plotting, process workflow, animation, and visualization.

Announcements Newmerical Technologies Int., Universidad de Sevilla, McGill University and Bombardier jointly present: Icing Course 2007: CFD as an Aid to In-flight Icing Certification, a one-day course at the University of Seville (Spain) on September 28, 2007.

Aircraft, Rotorcraft and UAVs flying through clouds encounter the problem of ice formation on critical surfaces and on/in engines. This can moderately or severely alter aerodynamic performance and handling qualities.
