Announcements Flow Science is please to invite you to attend a live, online seminar: Optimizing Design and Operation of Hydraulics Structures using CFD on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 1:00 pm EST.

The seminar will demonstrate how engineers used FLOW-3D to successfully renovate a fish ladder and evaluate a spillway's performance during revised PMF conditions.

New Software: CEI's Reveal Extreme Visualization Player Offers New Japanese Language Support

News Computational Engineering International (CEI) announced today that the latest version of Reveal, the company’s extreme visualization player, now includes full Japanese-language support. All menu items, dialog boxes, and help messages can easily be set to default to either Japanese or English at the user’s choosing.

KGT Inc., which distributes CEI’s software products in Japan, was responsible for the Japanese translations and worked with CEI to complete the project. Because Reveal’s graphic interface takes advantage of the Qt toolkit, the time and effort needed to complete the localization were greatly reduced.

Application: CFD Used to Assess Shuttle Tile Damage Threat

NASA The foam-damaged heat-shield tiles on the belly of the shuttle Endeavour do not represent a Columbia-class threat of catastrophic failure during re-entry, the chairman of NASA's Mission Management Team told reporters today. John Shannon said the issue is more a matter of whether post-landing repairs might be needed that could delay Endeavour's next flight or whether it might make more sense to stage a relatively simple spacewalk repair job to give the shuttle additional margin during re-entry.
