Automated Unstructured Viscous Meshing

Grid Generation Automated unstructured grid generation is routinely used for complex CFD analysis on a wide variety of analysis problems. The speed and ease with which an unstructured mesh is created is seldom matched by other meshing techniques.

However, isotropic unstructured meshes, for example those including only tetrahedral cells, either degrade solution accuracy near viscous walls or require prohibitively large mesh sizes. The large velocity gradient in the boundary layer near viscous walls is best captured by a specialized element which is oriented perpendicular to the wall.

Business: Flomerics - World's Fastest-Growing CFD Software

News Flomerics Group PLC, a leading supplier of simulation software to the engineering and electronics industries, has announced that sales increased by 24% to $27.8 million and that profits before tax, amortization of goodwill, exceptional items and share-based payments increased by 30% to $2.9 million.

A key factor in these results was the company’s acquisition of Nika GmbH in July 2006. Global sales of Nika’s “Engineering Fluid Dynamics” (EFD) software grew by 33% in 2006, and Flomerics believes that EFD is now the world’s fastest-growing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) product. Revenues excluding those resulting from the acquisition of Nika grew by 13% to $25.3 million.
