New Software: CD-adapco Unveils Latest CAD-Embedded Flow and Thermal Simulation Tools

CD-adapco CD-adapco has announced the STAR-CAD Series V4.10, the latest version of the industry leading CAD and PLM -embedded simulation tools that enable engineers and designers to perform industrial strength Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) calculations from within the comfort of their preferred CAD environment.

STAR-CAD Series Product Manager, Jean-Claude Ercolanelli, described the rationale behind the latest release: “We simply asked our customers how they would like us to improve the products and then we went away and implemented their suggestions” he says. “We have implemented over 90% of their suggested enhancements, resulting in a better, more intuitive product.”

F1 Technical Directors Unhappy With CFD Based Rules Change

News Autosport Magazine is reporting that Formula One technical directors are to present a new "overtaking-friendly" wing package as an alternative to the Centreline Downwash Generating rear wing proposed by the FIA last year.

The CDG wing, unveiled by the FIA in October last year, prompted a lot of engineering debate, with teams unsure it would prove as effective as expected.

International Journal of Fluid Power Reviews CFdesign for Pump Design

CFdesign CFdesign v8.0 is featured in a Software Review in the Auguest issue of the International Journal of Fluid Power. The article reviews the process for using the software in pump development and provides details on technical capabilities unique to CFdesign.
Throughout the history of pump design, there has always been a significant effort dedicated to improving pump efficiency, increasing duty cycle, and broadening operating range. Engineers have been faced with the task of creating multiple castings for housings, impellers, and other machine components only to find that they could be made better after-the-fact. More prototypes were made until the budget of the project required a final prototype to go into production. From the beginning, CFdesign was developed to exist as a tool on the desktop of engineers tasked with the creation of new pump designs.
