Events: Improving Aluminum Plant Energy Efficiency

ANSYS FLUENT Fluent will host an online event titled Improving the Energy Efficiency of a Secondary Aluminum Plant Through a Plantwide Assessment on April 13, 2006 from 10-11 am EDT.

This online seminar is intended to demonstrate how measurements and modeling can result in significant energy savings in a secondary aluminum plant.

Energy costs represent a significant cost of production for an aluminum plant. These energy costs are expected to rise at a much higher rate than any other cost for the plant in the near future.

New Software: Pointwise Offers Gridgen on SGI Prism

News Pointwise announces the availability of their CFD meshing software, Gridgen Version 15.09, on the Silicon Graphics Prism Deskside workstation.

"The first SGI workstation to which Gridgen was ported was a Model 2400 back in 1987," said John Steinbrenner, Pointwise's Vice President of Research and Development. "We are very excited to continue our 19 year relationship with SGI on their latest workstation, the Prism."

Need Help with 2D Panel Method Code

I just completed writing a code for calculating the surface pressure of a 4 digit 2D aerofoil section, using the panel method and the classic Hess and Smith approach, in the c language, however my results are not correct>

Can someone help me regarding this matter?

New Software: OpenFOAM CFD Toolbox V1.3 Released

News OpenCFD are pleased to announce the release of version 1.3 of their OpenFOAM open source CFD toolbox. OpenFOAM uses finite volume numerics to solve systems of partial differential equations ascribed on any 3D unstructured mesh of polyhedral cells.

Version 1.3 contains numerous developments aimed towards improving the efficiency and robustness of OpenFOAM for large-scale engineering CFD.

News Alpha-Novatech, a well-know supplier of heat sinks, has made their products available for download in HeatSinkDesigner format.

HeatSinkDesigner is thermal software focused on finding the optimal heat sink for a particular application. It will rapidly optimize a custom heat sink design or find the best available off-the-shelf heat sink. HeatSinkDesigner is often used to quickly select heat sinks before creating a CFD model.
