New Software: ALGOR Launches FEMPRO Pre-Processing Software

News ALGOR, Inc., a leading provider of design, analysis and simulation software, announced the immediate availability of FEMPRO, which has been designed to compete with Femap in the arena of pre- and post-processing for NASTRAN-compatible and other finite element analysis (FEA) software.

"FEMPRO is a modern, easy-to-use and complete system with full finite element modeling, results evaluation and presentation capabilities. Using FEMPRO, users build FEA models which can be processed by a variety of solvers for the purpose of performing mechanical simulation, which is often called virtual prototyping," said Bob Williams, ALGOR Product Manager.

CD-adapco An es-ice training course will be held at our Plymouth Office from January 23-27, 2006 for new users. If you are a new user of es-ice or a past user requiring a refresher course to improve your experience, then this course will be the correct level for you. The only prerequisite is that you should have a good working knowledge of pro-STAR and STAR-CD V3.2X, including transient simulations.

es-ice (Expert System Internal Combustion Engines) is a meshing and analysis tool developed and used by CD-adapco to simplify the meshing and analysis setup for transient in-cylinder flow and combustion calculations for reciprocating engines.

Announcements Advanced Design Technology (ADT), the global leader in advanced turbomachinery design codes are pleased to announce a two day aero/hydro-dynamic design training workshop for incompressible flow turbomachinery applications, such as Pumps and Fans. The workshop will be held in London on 3-4 April 2006.

ADT will introduce the inverse design process and compare the benefits over conventional design methods. The workshop will enable the participants to apply the unique features of TURBOdesign-1 3D inverse design code, coupled with TURBOcfd in the Aerodynamic and Hydrodynamic design of their own specific blade row under the supervision of ADT’s experienced design staff.

ANSYS FLUENT Fluent Inc., world leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and services, announced today its contribution to the new undergraduate engineering textbook by James Wilkes; Fluid Mechanics for Chemical Engineers, Second Edition, with Microfluidics and CFD, published by Prentice Hall.

This Second Edition is a revision of the best selling fluid mechanics book for chemical engineers. Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Dr. Wilkes has authored several textbooks in the area of numerical methods and this latest book provides a comprehensive overview of numerical methods specific to the field of fluid mechanics.

New Software: FLUENT 6.3 Beta Release Shows Improved Linux Performance

ANSYS FLUENT Fluent Inc., the world leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and services, today announces that the recently released beta version of its flagship flow simulation software, FLUENT 6.3, includes significant performance improvements on the Linux operating system (OS), stemming from the adoption of Intel® C++ Compiler 9.0 for Linux.

Using the Intel C++ Compiler, FLUENT 6.3 beta has been compared to nine typical CFD examples and shows performance improvements ranging from a few percent up to as much as 50%.

New Software: CFturbo Version 5 Released

News A new version of CFturbo has been released in November 2005. CFturbo V5 is an affordable, easy-to-use turbomachinery design software for high-quality radial and mixed-flow pumps and fans including volutes.

The software has interfaces to all relevant commercial CAD-systems and meshing software packages in order to streamline the turbomachinery design and recomputation process.
