New Software: OmegaChart v3.0 Released
Posted Fri August 26, 2005 @01:51PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
News The OmegaChart 3.0 a FlowChart generator converts a FORTRAN source code (f77 & f90, fixed or free form) to their FlowChart equivalence. The generated flowchart is viewable through Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Internet Explorer.

OmegaChart 3.0 is a useful tool for untangle behind-the-scenes programming logic in a messy spaghetti code and therefore generate visual documentation of the execution route. While other analysis tools only provide "assembly level" info, such as calling trees or variables cross referencing, OmegaChart provide detailed "module level" logic such as loops, if-elseif-endif constructs and select-case constructs.

Help Desk Malou writes "Hi CFD Review forum members,

My name is Maria Lourdes Aguja and I am a masters student at the Hamburg University of Technology in Germany.

I am doing my masters thesis now and am using CFX to simulate the results and findings of Dipl.-Ing. Andreas Gorton-Hülgerth from the Technischen Universität Graz in his paper 'Messung und Berechnung der Geschwindigkeitfelder und Partikelbahn im Gaszyklon' dated December 1998. It's about gas flow in a cyclone. His paper is our reference as he worked with a cyclone unit with D=0.40 meter and H=1.0 meter. The aim of my paper is to successfully adopt his approach and apply this to an industrial-size unit.

Post Processing CEI, a leading provider of engineering and scientific graphics software, shattered the previous record for graphics rendering speed during tests last week at the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). CEI engineers and Dale Southard of LLNL conducted the tests on a Linux visualization cluster used to support National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) missions.

CEI’s parallel rendering compositor achieved a speed of 3.17 billion polygons per second using 76 standard dual-processor PCs running on a high-performance networking system. The scene used for testing contained 684 million triangles and ran at a rate of 4.6 frames per second.

New Software: Fluent Releases FloWizard V2 for Rapid Flow Modeling
Posted Tue August 23, 2005 @01:15PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
ANSYS FLUENT Fluent Inc., the worldwide leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), has announced the immediate release of FloWizard V2 today. FloWizard leads in "rapid flow modeling" a flexible approach to CFD simulation that allows for accurate and quick engineering design validation much earlier in the product development cycle. FloWizard V2 builds on the success of the product's 2004 debut, which already gained a strong following in the design engineering community worldwide.

"Where CFD is still often perceived as a complex, scientific discipline, FloWizard now brings the ability to rapidly model flows to all stages in the product design process," said Paul Bemis, Vice President of Marketing at Fluent. "With the release of FloWizard V2, and its availability on our unique Remote Simulation Facility (RSolve), we can now offer flow modeling solutions on large parallel clusters starting at only $7000 per year (US). Offering such a fully integrated solution using a ‘pay as you go' delivery subscription service is yet another 'industry first' introduced by Fluent in the CAE industry."
