Announcements Learn how to use this popular numerical library for the Finite Volume method with the help of expert OpenFoam developers. OpenFoam allows the solution of rather general system of transport equations by the Finite Volume method, differential operators and time integration schemes are implemented on this C++ library which can handle models meshed on general polyhedra.

OpenFoam provides parallelization by domain decomposition and comes along with powerful pre and post processing tools.

The workshop takes place at the SIMDI05 conferance in Gothenburg, Sweden 7-8 September 2005.

Help Desk ejazkd writes "Hello,

I am trying to solve a transonic heat transfer problem in a concentric tube arrangment. I am having a problem in setting boundary conditions and in achieveing convergence.

At the inlet, a mass inlet boundary condition is applied, and on the outlet a pressure outlet BC is applied, which should be when in the transonic domain. But I am bit confused with supplying the pressure values.

Can somebody guide me on how to achieve convergence in this transonic heat transfer problem?

ejaz ahmed"

News The European CATIA Forum, ECF2005, 4-6 October 2005, represents the first anniversary of the release of STAR-CAT5, CD-adapco's revolutionary CAD-embedded CFD product for CATIA V5. STAR-CAT5 was the first product to introduce CAD-embedded CFD to the CATIA community at the conference one year ago.

CD-adapco's CAD-embedded CFD range offers outstanding ease of use, and, for the first time, delivers industrial strength CFD to the Design and Product Engineering communities. With STAR-CAT5 the CFD functionality is provided from within the CATIA environment, and accessed as additional items from within CATIA's specification tree. This intuitive approach to CFD means that even novice users are able to quickly obtain industrial strength flow simulation results. Based on the technology behind the industry leading STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+, STAR-CAT5 is a gateway to the most comprehensive flow simulation tools in the world.
