Worldwide Survey on CFD Information Resources
Posted Thu February 24, 2005 @09:38AM
Print version Email story Tweet story
Announcements In-line with the aims and objectives of NAFEMS as a whole, the NAFEMS CFD working group aims to raise awareness of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) applications and techniques, promote standards for CFD, stimulate the adoption of best practices and deliver education and training. These activities are currently carried out through various mechanisms including the publication of guidance booklets, workbooks of examples, a journal of case studies and organising seminars.

The purpose of this survey is to identify which topics are currently insufficiently covered but are of interest to those involved, either directly or indirectly, in CFD analysis activities. Also to identify the most useful format through which the material should be made available.

News Using Fluid Analysis to Optimize the Performance of Bioreactors
March 3, 2005 at 2pm

In this webinar, we will describe the type of fluid mixing engineering reviews that we design for our clients to deliver engineering value early in the project life cycle and identify the best use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, thus minimizing longer-term project expenditure.

Such reviews are extremely important for overall understanding of bioreactors at the different scales since the bioreactors must be properly designed to meet multiple design criteria such as liquid blending, gas dispersion, cell suspension, gas-liquid mass transfer, cell- liquid mass transfer, local turbulence, local shear rate, and bubble size distribution.

Best Solver for Fuel Rod Bundle Subchannel Analysis?
Posted Thu February 17, 2005 @09:04PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
Help Desk Arnie writes "I have a problem regarding subchannel analysis in rod bundles, can anybody suggest a proper solver for subchannel analysis or suggest me any FVM scheme to solve it?

I would like to have the complete mass, momentum and energy equations with proper connectivity between adjacent subchannels. If there is any commercial CFD software available (my problem involves phase change), please let me know."
