News Please join Dr. Sung-Eun Kim, Principal Engineer at Fluent Inc. for an online seminar discussing how to maximize accuracy and minimize cost in using Large Eddy Simulation and Detached Eddy Simulation for engineering applications. This online seminar will take place on January 20, 2005 at 2 p.m.

Large Eddy Simulation is becoming a viable tool for engineering analysis of complex flows for which unsteady turbulent interactions play a critical role. This includes problems involving bluff body aero- and hydrodynamics, fluid-structure interaction, acoustics, complex mixing phenomena, and other turbulent flow problems in which large, anisotropic structures dominate the flow-field. This webinar will cover the basics of the method, along with advice on how to use it effectively in an engineering environment.

I am writing codes for benchmark problems in CFD. My basic question is why use the FORTRAN language to write codes in CFD? Is there any specific advantage of FORTRAN for CFD programming? Why can't we use C, C++ for CFD codes?"

    Gambit or Gridgen for CFD Grid Generation

    Help Desk Anonymous writes "I am in the early stages of learning CFD analysis using Fluent. For grid generation, I am looking at GAMBIT and GridGen. Is there a big difference between the two? Will I get better CFD results if I use one or the other? I've already started learning GAMBIT, and I am wondering if I should switch now to Gridgen."

    News ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced that it has acquired Century Dynamics, Inc., a leading provider of sophisticated yet easy-to-use simulation software for solving linear, nonlinear, explicit and multi-body hydro-dynamics problems. The up-front purchase price of $5,000,000 will be paid in cash. In addition, the agreement provides for future payments contingent upon the attainment of certain performance criteria. Excluding the effects of acquisition-related amortization and any one-time deal related charges, the acquisition is expected to be slightly accretive to earnings within fiscal year 2005.

    I am an undergraduate student writing a CFD code for simple physics. I have a set of equations which are NOT tridiagonal. So I think I can use ADI method. I am programming in the C++ language. Can anyone mail me C++ code for solving N*N matices using ADI method?
