ANSYS CFX ANSYS Inc. (NASDAQ: ANSS), a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced the release of CFX-5.6 which provides increased accessibility to advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD). CFX is used by companies around the world in a wide range of industries including aerospace, chemical processing, power generation, automotive, oil and gas, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and many others to improve processes, solve performance issues and vastly reduce product time to market.

CFX-5 is the technology leader with its coupled multigrid solver that solves the full system of hydrodynamic equations simultaneously. This methodology, in addition to robustly providing highly accurate results, also is the basis for industry-leading parallel efficiency, thus allowing companies to solve these computationally intensive problems in far less time than ever before. Further, CFX-5 delivers near total interoperability between its wide range of models providing the realistic picture that leads to informed design decisions.

New Software: NASA Offers Free CFD Software for Mac OS X
Posted Wed May 28, 2003 @12:12PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
NASA NASA Langley Research Center has released the Tetrahedral Unstructured Software System, or TetrUSS, for Mac OS X.

TetrUSS is an unstructured-grid flow analysis and design computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software system. The goal is to provide a validated capability to non-CFD expert users for performing rapid aerodynamic analysis and design of complex configurations.

The system consists of a loosely coupled set of software for geometry setup, grid generation, flow solution, and analysis.

TetrUSS is used in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics analysis, and has been used on major projects including High Speed Research / High Speed Civil Transport, Hyper-X, Abrupt Wing Stall, Mars Scout, Joint Strike Fighter and more. What's more, the software has been used in the civilian aerospace industry, academy, automotive, biomedical and civil engineering fields.

TetrUSS is available free-of-charge to U.S. entities, citizens, and permanent residents. In addition, a free 1-week TetrUSS training course is available monthly at NASA Langley Research Center, and is strongly recommended.

FLUENT Eulerian Granular Model Suitability?
Posted Thu May 22, 2003 @08:34PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
Help Desk ap writes "I'm tying to simulate a riser using FLUENT 6.0 Eulerian granular model, but results doesn't agree with experimental data.

I'd like to know how suitable is the model implemented in FLUENT to simulate risers, and how is it accurate. Did someone used it successfully?

Thanks ap"
