CD adapco group is offering a series of European workshops for their Expert System software:
es-tools workshop: es-aero for external aerodynamics and es-uhood for underhood flow and thermal simulation
5th November 2002, Nuremberg, Germany
6th November 2002, Paris, France
7th November 2002, London, UK
8th November 2002, Milan, Italy (es-aero only)
This workshop is aimed at providing both experienced CFD engineers and
newcomers alike with a better understanding of how CFD simulations in
combination with our knowledge based expert systems, es-aero and es-uhood,
is playing an ever increasing role in the design and development of vehicle external
aerodynamics and vehicle underhood flow and thermal management.
During the workshop you will see how using our products es-aero and
es-uhood, can help you reduce development costs and shorten your vehicle
simulation time. es-aero provides a knowledge-based solution for a no
compromise fast and accurate simulation of flow around complex 3-D vehicles,
while es-uhood facilitates rapid simulation of flow and thermal processes inside
the complex engine compartment. Both products are designed to conveniently
handle the following activities: Preparation and cleaning of CAD surfaces and
geometry - generation of appropriate CFD grids - an effective choice of boundary
conditions and physical models - control of the CFD solution - post processing of
results.
You will also have an opportunity to hear the experience of SAAB using these tools and discuss your concerns and requirements with some of our most experienced engineers.

CFX is offering a new
series of free web-based demonstrations for engineers with different CFD interests. These demonstrations are live and interactive and performed by experienced CFD engineers.
These web events include:
CFX for the Marine Industry – October 24
CFX has been trusted by the marine industry worldwide to provide the CFD software and knowledge required to optimize design to decrease noise, stress & vibration, lower energy needs, increase safety and meet regulatory requirements. Examples as well as a live demonstration of CFX software showing superior parallelization, advanced turbulence models, accurate multiphase and free surface models and efficient mesh generation and grid attachment abilities will be presented.
CFX-5 Live – October 31 and November 21
CFX-5 is the best-in-class Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software from CFX. CFX-5 greatly assists our customers in improving their profits by rapidly optimizing every aspect of fluid flow analysis within their overall product design and manufacturing processes.
For those unfamiliar with CFX-5, this web seminar contains a step by step demonstration of CFX-5 from geometry creation and import, through meshing, to solution and post-processing. Features of CFX-5 to be demonstrated include grid adaption, parallelization set-up and CFX Expression Language.

Hanley Innovations, a small business specializing in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics software development for education and industry, announced today the release of Dr. Hanley's Aerodynamics: MultiElement Airfoils, a user-friendly software package for the conceptual design and analysis of airfoils and bodies in close proximity to each other. MultiElement Airfoils runs on a PC under Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP.
MultiElement Airfoils is intended for use as a conceptual design/analysis tool for the professional engineering and educational communities. The software can be used to rapidly create 2-D models and generate insight into many relevant engineering problems. For example, high lift wing configurations, race car spoilers in ground effect, biplane wings, double keel/rudder configurations, hydrofoils in shallow water, sail interactions and many other problems can be easily modeled with this tool.
