SGI Passes Significant Milestones in Last Quarter

Hardware SGI has passed some significant sales milestones during the last quarter. Since last year's launch of the NUMAflex(TM) modular computing approach, SGI has sold nearly 30,000 processors for its Origin 3000 and Onyx 3000 systems including a 1,024 processor job for NASA Ames.

The quarter also saw the sale of the 500th SGI Reality Center immersive visualization facility which based on the Onyx family.

Thermal & Fluids Analysis Workshop 2001

Announcements The 12th Thermal & Fluids Analysis Workshop (TFAWS) will be held September 10-14, 2001 in Huntsville, AL and hosted by NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.

The annual conference, which is hosted by a different NASA site each year, focuses on the applications of thermal and fluids analysis in the aerospace field.

The conference features:

  • Short courses on topics of interest to the community
  • Hands-on classes where participants can evaluate software
  • Product overview lectures from commercial software vendors
  • Fluid and thermal analysis papers

Blue Ridge Numerics Opens Huntsville, AL Office

News Blue Ridge Numerics Inc., developer of CFdesign CFD software have opened an office in Huntsville, Alabama to service the southeastern US. The office will be headed up by Steve Rawnsley, previously with CFD Research Corp. and Adapco.
“We’re really excited about being better able to support the southeast region with the opening of this new office,” says Ed Williams, president of Blue Ridge Numerics, “We will continue to grow and expand within the U.S. and internationally as interest in CFdesign continues to increase. The regional offices have been very successful and are a key part of helping us educate the market about the merits and benefits of CFdesign. With 100% growth per year for the past three years, we continue to be one of the fastest growing CAE companies in the industry.

CFDRC Ships CFD-ACE+ V6.6

ESI Group CFDRC has released CFD-ACE+ Version 6.6 which was previewed here earlier. New features include:
  • Fuel cell modeling
  • Faster free surface calculations
  • Parallel solver on Windows NT/2000
  • More modeling capabilities

Flow Science Signs Distributor in UK

News Flow Science has signed an agreement with CFD Solutions Ltd., a privately held British company, to represent their FLOW-3D CFD package in the United Kingdom for both sales and consulting purposes.

AVL User Meeting 2001

AVL Plan to attend the AVL Advanced Simulation Technologies User Meeting 2001 in Graz, Austria on September 24-25, 2001.

The meeting will include discussion forums where people interested in fluid and structural dynamics can gather, user presentations, updates on the latest AVL simulation technology, and the chance to meet with the entire AVL AST development team.
