Announcements Or is it oddity? ;-) The CFD Society of Canada, in conjunction with University of Waterloo, is hosting CFD2001 from May 27-29 in Kitchener, Ontario.
At the turn of the millennium, the application of CFD has reached a new frontier. CFD technology is now more potent and affordable with the seemingly endless increase in inexpensive computational power. Because of this, CFD has become a household design tool for many different industries at many different levels. CFD 2001 is a golden opportunity for academics, developers, and industries to join hands and forge new paths on this exciting odyssey.
The conference includes free seminars by AEA Technology and Fluent (as if you needed further incentive to visit Canada in May).

Post Processing CEI has broadened the capabilities of it's base level post processor by adding flow field feature extraction, previously only available in their EnSight Gold software.
"Our customers told us that flow-feature extraction is important for all kinds of CFD visualizations, not just the extremely large problems handled by EnSight Gold," says Kent Misegades. "Now, all EnSight users can automatically visualize and animate those factors that most impact the integrity of their designs."

CD and ICCM Begin Collaboration
Posted Wed May 02, 2001 @05:16PM

News In a move which may see STAR-CD gain fluid/structure interaction capabilities, Computational Dynamics has joined ICCM in a collaborative effort to develop ICCM's CFD code COMET.
...a collaboration to develop and sell the latter's CFD code COMET, which has multiphysics capabilities, including an embedded structures solver for fluid/structure interaction simulation. The agreement also involves joint development work on STAR-CD with the possible long-term goal of merging the two codes, which have complementary capabilities and common 'genes'.
I have often questioned the genes of my CFD software - or was it those of the developers? ;-). Let us know the genetic make-up of your CFD code by posting a comment to this story.
