Fluent - Concepts NREC Strategic Alliance

News The commercial CFD giant Fluent and Concepts NREC, a leader in turbomachinery design and testing services, today announced a strategic alliance whereby they would jointly target the turbomachinery design and analysis market.
The combined offering provides the world's most complete solution for design and analysis of turbomachinery systems.

Dr. Ferit Boysan, President of Fluent, was quoted as saying "Fluent intends to dominate the turbomachinery CFD market and the partnership with Concepts NREC is a key part of that strategy."

AEA Offers CFD Web Seminars

ANSYS CFX In what I believe to be an industry first, AEA Technology will offer a series of 1 hour web seminars on CFD ranging from use of their BladeGen and ProMixus products to applications for industry.
They are designed for engineers and business managers who want to receive an overview of how CFX can help solve their flow problems but who may not have time to attend a full one-day seminar in person.

Announcements Computational Dynamics is hosting their 2001 North American User Conference on May 21 - 22, at the Northfield Hilton, Troy, Michigan.
... It will include two days of presentations, a variety of demonstrations and a User Forum. Presentations will be given by our clients from a variety of industries including: automotive, power generation, combustion, aerospace and architectural engineering.

CUBIT 5.0 Released

Grid Generation The latest version of CUBIT, a solid-modeler based mesh generator, has been released at Sandia.
Mesh generation algorithms include quadrilateral and triangular paving, 2d and 3d mapping, hex sweeping and multi-sweeping, tet meshing, and various special-purpose primitives. Our smoothing algorithms are state of the art and are incorporated into volume sweeping.

...we are making steady progress on reducing the time to mesh, making CUBIT the tool of choice, ensuring CUBIT algorithms and datastructures scale well to large (~100 million element) meshes...
