Events: Verification and Validation in Engineering Simulation
Posted Tue March 22, 2022 @08:12PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
Announcements Engineering simulation plays an increasing role in industry’s search for competitiveness and technology based innovation at any stage of the design, qualification and certification of their products. Key decisions and product qualification/certification increasingly rely on virtual tests and computational simulations, creating a major paradigm shift in which the objective of physical tests is progressively moving from a demonstration of compliance to a reference for simulation validation.

NAFEMS will conduct the 2.5 day course Verification and Validation in Engineering Simulation on May 10-12.

Application: Researchers Produce Detailed Simulation of Heart Valve Flow
Posted Thu February 10, 2022 @08:46PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
Application Researchers at Rice University in the US and Waseda University in Japan have collaborated to simulate flow through a working ventricle-valve-aorta geometry.

In this research, Tayfun Tezduyar, Prof. Mechanical Engineering at Rice University, and his colleagues at Waseda University in Japan tackled what he said is one of the toughest problems in biomechanics: a way to accurately characterize the flow of blood around and through the heart’s valves, taking into account the flow details near the surfaces of the valve’s three leaflets along the way.
