New Software: Pointwise Launches Free Software for CFD Mesh Viewing and Examination

News Pointwise announces the launch of Pointwise Viewer, free software for importing, viewing, measuring, and examining the cell quality metrics of virtually any mesh.

"There are plenty of CAD viewers on the market, free and otherwise, but virtually no mesh viewers," said John Chawner, Pointwiseís president.

Application The sensitivity of bacteria to physical, chemical and environmental disturbances presents a challenge to maintaining microbial nitrification in wastewater treatment plants.

Researchers at the University of New Mexico conducted a series of experiments to understand the effects of surface roughness on annular nitrifying biofilm reactors (Roveto et al., 2019). Their team used FLOW-3D to find possible explanations for their experimental observations.

Application Wild Well Control has developed a new approach to shallow-water well capping involving heavy pre-planning using CFD analysis of the well plume.

A partial list of complications for capping shallow-water well events includes large radius surface boils, and large clouds of dangerous or explosive gas/lower explosive limit (LEL) capable of igniting and creating potential fire hazards at or near the well site.
