Announcements Siemens PLM will host Simulating Vehicle HVAC Systems on December 15, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois.

In order to provide optimal passenger comfort, a vehicle's ventilation system must be designed to deliver air at the correct flow and temperature. In the past, numerous costly prototypes were needed to test and re-test the system. Join us for a free workshop, where you will learn how computational fluid dynamics (CFD) can replace early physical prototypes and how efficient design exploration can lead to optimized vehicle HVAC systems in a quicker, more cost-effective fashion.

Application: Optimization of a Pump-Turbine Runner
Posted Thu December 08, 2016 @05:02AM
Print version Email story Tweet story
Application Pumped hydro energy storage (PHES) is currently the only proven large-scale (>100 MW) energy storage technology. The benefits of PHES on electrical system operations are well documented in textbooks and journals. The flexible generation of PHES can provide upregulation and downregulation in power systems. Furthermore, the quick start capabilities of PHES make it suitable for black starts and for the provision of spinning and standing reserves.
