Announcements Tecplot will host How Aerion Technologies Generates Aerodynamic Databases with Hydra: A Framework in Python Using Cart3D, GoCart and Tecplot on December 8th at 10am PST.

Aerodynamic databases are comprised of a large number of CFD runs that when composited together can predict aspects of performance over a variation in operating conditions or design variables.

Application: 'Corkscrew' Shape of Blood Flow in Heart's Upper Chamber May Signal Lower Stroke Risk

Application Using specialized CT scans of a healthy heart and one with heart disease, a team of Johns Hopkins cardiologists and biomedical engineers say they’ve created computer models of the “shape” of blood flow through the heart’s upper left chamber that someday may help predict stroke risk.

News has published a concise article on the various turbulence models available in commercial CFD software packages. The article lists the various models in use, their theoretical basis, advantages, and disadvantages.

Various empiric or semi-derived turbulence models have been created to help engineers to find the best model to fit their system of study, but this process could take a lot of trial, error and physical testing.
